Japandroids - Celebration Rock (2012)

Through all of "Celebration Rock", this Vancouver-based duo's second release, there's the certain notion that this record is meant to stay, meant for repeat listens, meant for long car rides and screaming along with your friends. And yes, I downloaded it when it was in a horrible, transcoded version, and though Japandroids sound amazing in that raw, crappy form, what we have here is much, much better. In fact, what Japandroids have done on this album is re-established rock as a genre to be excited about. You think this is the summer of synths? Hell no. This album is a compact eight songs, but through its thirty-six minutes, it contains some of the most fervent, incredible tracks that I can remember hearing in recent memory.
