The Jezabels - Prisoner (2011)

This is the album we have all been waiting for. THE JEZABELS debut "Prisoner".

2011 debut album from the Australian quartet. Prisoner is a panoramic study of tension and emancipation, from the echoing stone cathedral of the title track to the sun-blasted morning of the first single, 'Endless Summer'; from the cloistered atmospherics of the instrumental interlude, 'Austerlitz', to the chiming and climbing pop of 'Deep Wide Ocean' and the quiet reflecting pool of 'Peace Of Mind'.

Over the past few years the Sydney based quartet has built a huge fan base on a stunning collection of EPs and live performances to match.  Despite their countless packed out shows and festival spots, there was always something missing.  The album.

Prisoner hits the spot with the howling range of Hayley Mary’s vocals that take you from epic heartbreak to a gentle purr in just the drop from chorus to verse.  Not to mention the driving drum rhythms, glittering guitars and Heather Shannon beating down on those keys like she’s got nothing to lose.
